Monthly Memo June 2011
The Parshall
Family
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to greet,
support and hear from the Parshall Family while they are home on furlough. They
will be with us on Sunday, June 5th and are tentatively planning to
be part of our Thursday night prayer meeting on June 2nd. Please
take the opportunity to welcome, greet and love these wonderful missionaries
for the short time they will be with us.
Vacation Bible
School
The timing of this year’s VBS is different than
we’ve ever done before. This year we will host SonSurf Beach Bash on our church
property during the first week of August (8/1-8/5). As you can tell by the
theme, it will be a wet and wild VBS. By August, the weather should cooperate
and be hot and dry around here.
It doesn’t hurt to start telling parents and
children you know about our dates for VBS. We will soon be developing some
promotional material that you can pass out to your friends, family and
neighbors. As always, VBS is a Herculean effort, and can only be accomplished
by the cooperation of our entire church family. Please volunteer to help us
because “many hands makes light work”.
Greeters/Nursery
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to
the Cooleys (greeters) and the Sonntags (nursery) for taking the bull by the
horn and shoring up these 2 important ministries. Without their leadership,
this never could have happened. We would also like to thank the many volunteers
that have agreed to staff these areas.
We want to support the Cooleys and the Sonntags
anyway we can. Please thank them and ask if you can be of assistance to their
efforts. Also, if you have volunteered to help as a greeter or as a nursery
worker, please be prepared to fulfill your assignment or find someone who can.
Constitution
The latest draft of The Orchard Church Constitution
was submitted to 2 independent groups for peer review. We are awaiting feedback
from The Christian Law Association and the EFCA Constitution Committee. Once we
have heard from them, we will make the necessary modifications and submit it to
the congregation for review and approval. We thank you for your patience
throughout this tedious effort.
Capital
Campaign
We are in the process of building our Capital
Campaign leadership team. We are recruiting teams to administer the entire
process, to communicate our progress throughout, to work with leadership to
make advance commitments, to under gird the effort with prayer, to provide the
congregation with stewardship education and to plan a celebratory event.
This campaign will be a church-wide endeavor. If you
are asked to help in some small way, we would appreciate your assistance. We
want as many people as possible to participate in this important process.
