Lawn
Chair Worship & Picnic
As we prepare for our last church picnic of 2011, it
reminds us that the warm weather season is almost over. Praise the Lord for the change of seasons.
On Sunday, September 11th, we will bring
our lawn chairs and worship under
the trees. Since it will be the 10th anniversary of the 9/11
attacks, our service will revolve around our remembrance of that tragic event.
Immediately after worship, we will have our last picnic of the year, play some games and
watch the Browns begin their 2011 campaign.
This is an excellent opportunity to invite others to
join us. We will extend an invitation to
all the families that participated in VBS, but YOU could extend a warm
invitation, as well.
Have
You Considered Sunday School?
In the fall, we like to encourage every member of
our spiritual family to give Sunday School a chance. Beginning Sunday,
September 18th, we will have discussion and activity classes for all ages.
All young
people’s classes meet at Olmsted Community Center (OCC) and begin at 9:30 a.m.
There are 2
adult classes. One meets at the church office at 9:15 a.m. and they are
working through the book of Joel. The other meets at OCC at 9:30 a.m. and they
are enjoying the book of Revelation.
Here are some reasons to consider Sunday School:
You
are already coming for worship, why
not double your fellowship/instruction
You will grow in the grace and
knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18)
You
will strengthen your relationships
with people in your class
You
will have opportunities to pray for
1 another and for the worship service
You
will deepen your hunger and thirst
for God and His Word
You
will have an opportunity to make some lunch
plans for after worship
You
will share some smiles and laughter
together (we all need that)
John Lennon sang, “Give peace a chance”. We say, “Give Sunday School a chance.”
